What I Thought:
It's hilarious how weeks after I've read this book, I'm still struggling to find the right words to describe how I feel without this book. I guess the easiest place would be to start with the cover. I don't know about you, but I love it! It's definitely one of the most original covers I've seen. I just love the juxtaposition of technology, the coffee mug, and the bright red seen in the dress, slippers, and lipstick. Everything comes together nicely and give you a great idea about what the book will be about.
Penny Reid certainly knows how to write. She's given us Sandra who can't seem to get out of her dating slump, whom I couldn't help but love. She's funny, really funny. Then you've got the mysterious Alex, who is not just eye candy, in the form of her favorite waiter at the restaurant she takes all of her doomed first dates to. The two of them have lots of zing and play off each other beautifully. I like how Sandra tried to refrain from using her psychotherapist woo-woo on Alex and how Alex was blunt and forthright with her.
I think the aspect I was most taken aback by, in a good way of course, was the technology aspect. I really want to mention it, but since it's not mentioned in the blurb, I won't say anything here and ruin the surprise for you. Now I know nothing really about what's gotten Alex into trouble, but I really liked how Penny explained everything, so I was able to understand what I was going on.
This book truly is a "smarter romance". It's more realistic and yet fantasy like at the same time. There are the usual shenanigans by the knitting group, but since I love those ladies, it's great. There's a scene outside the restaurant with all of them and Alex that both cracked me up and had me cheering. That's one group of women whose bad side I would not want to get on! For a story that will keep you hooked, definitely pick up Love Hacked or any of the other books in this series. And you can read any of them on their own, but TRUST me, you're going to want to read them all!

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).
