Synopsis: 23-year-old aspiring artist Sophie Walker can think of no better place than the exotic paradise of the Maldives Islands to escape the wrath of her controlling parents, the monotony of her boring legal work and her passionless boyfriend. With her two best friends along for the ride and to help her find herself again, Sophie is not prepared for the enigmatic Clayton Sinclair. Clayton comes from another world of privilege that seems like a fantasy to Sophie.  Can this man introduce her to the passion & seduction she never realized she was desperately searching for? Sophie quickly becomes ensnared in Clayton's seductive web until a shocking treachery makes her question her judgment and actions...

What I Thought:

I saw the book on netgalley and wasn't sure what to make of the cover and title.  The blurb sounded interesting so I decided to try and see if I'd like it.  I waited way too long to pick up this book.  Once I started reading, all it took was the first two chapters and I was hooked.  Sophie is on the cusp of a huge change.  She's dropped everything she doesn't want to find out what she does on a trip to the Maldives. Meeting Clayton Sinclair doesn't help; she's extremely attracted to him (I was too).  Sophie's already off balance and meeting Clayton only throws her further off kilter.

I liked Sophie a lot.  She's discovering who she is and what she wants.  She's not willing to settle.  I liked Clayton too.  He seemed to be focused solely on Sophie and good for her.  I was a bit taken aback by the insta-attraction, but understand how hard it is to look away from a person when they've captured your interest.  It was also easy to deal with since there wasn't instant consummation either.  It was very entertaining to see Sophie and Clayton deal with it during the one week Sophie gave herself to figure things out.  I haven't mentioned how amazing Sophie's friends Erik and Orie were.  They were funny, brash, and 100% on Sophie's team for everything.

It's not hard to understand why I enjoyed the book so much.  Everything was perfect, the setting, the characters, the pacing, and especially the climax.  I can't tell how eager I am to read the second book and find out what Clayton has to say for himself.  I really do wish the book had been longer, but there's not much I can do about that.

Colet has done a fantastic job on this new adult/adult novel.  It turns out she's a woman of many talents.  I'm very thankful I took a chance on Mad Love.  It gave me the perfect break I was looking for and is the perfect book to take with you to the beach.  It's 200-something pages of pure escapism, explosive chemistry, and enough drama to keep you turning the page.

About the Author
I'm an old soul. I'm a wife. A daughter. A sister.  An aunt. A best friend. I love to travel.  I'm a fierce animal lover. I consider my dog Famous my first born son. I'm a collector of old books.  I'm a television producer and am starting to dabble in film. Since I was a little girl I dreamt of being a writer; I still can't believe I am one. I live in a parallel universe. Real Colet works, plays, hangs with friends, sometimes cooks for her husband and walks her dogs. Fantasyland Colet is surrounded by imagined people, places and a million different scenes. On any given day I move between both worlds at least a dozen times. My husband thinks it's an awesome quality. I know I'm lucky. I count my blessings everyday.  I read self help books all the time and hope that I can become a better soul for this life and the next, and yes, I do believe in that sort of thing. Which leads to my next point:
I BELIEVE...
I believe in soul mates. I believe in happily ever after. I believe in taking risks. I believe that hard work does pay off. I believe that if you don't follow your heart you'll miss out on life. I believe that imagination is the key to greatness. I believe if you stop dreaming you'll never change your world. I believe that anything is possible. Everything happens for a reason. And I believe that dreams really do come true.
Love & Light
