Blog Tour: Review, and Giveaway for Take Two by Laurelin Paige

I was so excited when I saw this book was available for review.  I jumped on it and kept my fingers crossed I'd be approved.  I enjoyed this book and hope you will too!
Book Title: Take Two
AuthorLaurelin Paige
Release Date: February 4, 2014
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Rating: ★★★★ stars
Summary: He’s ready for his close up, but she’s the one calling the shots.

On the night of her graduation from film school, straight-laced Maddie Bauers fell completely out of character for an oh-my-god make-out session with a perfect stranger. Complete with the big O.

Seven years later, that romantic interlude is still fresh in her mind. That stranger is now a rich and famous actor. And she’s one very distracted camera assistant working on his latest production. She might consider another tryst…if he even remembers her.

Micah Preston does indeed remember Maddie. Too bad he’s sworn off Hollywood relationships. He allows himself as much sex as he likes—and oh, he does like—but anything more is asking for trouble. For the woman, not for him. Yet knowing Maddie could want more than a movie-set fling doesn’t stop him from pursuing her like a moth drawn to hot stage lights.

But as the shoot nears its end, it’s decision time. Is it time to call, “Cut!” on their affair, or is there enough material for a sequel?

Warning: Contains a dreamy movie star hero, a focus-pulling heroine, off-the-charts instant chemistry, steamy sex in near-public locations, and a new use for lip gloss.

Review: I love books which feature movie stars and non celebrities.  I am not a huge fan of insta-attraction.  I like to call it insta-lust, which I think is more appropriate.  I found that Micah and Maddie's chemistry was off the charts as their initial meeting showed.  I was surprised by it especially since both of them made clear that what happened was not something they did normally.

When Maddie and Micah met again after a number of years, that chemistry was still there but now both Micah and Maddie had more life experiences under their belts; Micah more so than Maddie.  I really liked how Maddie was able to retain her senses around Micah, even when her body rebelled against it. The conflict between what Micah and Maddie want is real and there was no clear right or wrong.  I really felt for the two of them as they tried to figure out what they really wanted.

I must say I found the first half of the book to be a little slow.  There was the insta-attraction and then a lot of back and forth between Micah and Maddie that seemed to take a very long time even though I understood why. Once the book hit about 45%, it really picked up and I read it in no time.  I was wondering where the book got its title from and when the passage appeared about 75% into the book, I audibly went, "Ohhhh.  That's clever."  The book packs a lot of heat and I enjoyed it and some ice cold water.

Thankfully, Laurelin has decided to write a second book with some characters we met in Take Two.  I can't wait to see how that book turns out!

About Laurelin:
Laurelin Paige is the NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of the Fixed Trilogy. She's a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there's kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn't seem to complain, however. When she isn't reading or writing sexy stories, she's probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine.
